The Bureau of Engraving and Printing's (BEP) takes you to the official government site of the BEP for some interesting information and facts on all of our US currency.

US Papermoney will take you to a site that is full of information on everything you ever wanted to know about our US currency. Almost everything anyway. Very cool site!

The American Numismatics Association (ANA) is a professional organization for those who want to further learn about US coins and currency.

PMG and PCGS are the only two TRUE independent currency-grading services available. I highly recommend these two companies for those of you who want to get their currency certified and graded for insurance purposes or simply, a peace of mind.

This has always been one of my favorite small size errors of all time. It is the famous 1976 $2 Additional Overprint Error. This $2 error is also featured on the cover of Dr Fred Bart’s 2nd edition book titled, United States Paper Money Errors. In his book on page 120, he describes this note as “Penultimate multiple printing error with radical separation between primary and secondary impressions on two dollar denomination which rarely yields spectacular mistakes”. This $2 note is also classified as an R-9 error on the Relative Rarity Index which is the highest rating.

In actuality this note was run through the BEP press TWICE during the second printing operation which resulted in the two completely different set of serial numbers. The treasury seal and district seal along with the district numbers are also printed twice. This is the only note printed with this type of error.

I have owned several examples of this error type over the years. Earlier this year I sold my PCGS-64PPQ example. This is the second time I have owned a GEM-65PPQ example. The last one in a GEM-65PPQ I sold for $22,500 to a coin dealer for his client several years ago in Baltimore.

If you are a advanced collector or simply want to own of the most prestigious and pedigreed errors of all time, here is your one chance to get a GEM example. .

The serial numbers are D22822649A and D22822653A and it is housed in a GEM PCGS-65PPQ holder.
