Binion $10,000 bill serial no. B00003082A
This is a very nice collectable 1934 $10,000 “Binion” note from the district of New York. The serial number is B00003052A and resides in a PCGS-64. There were 100 of these New York $10,000 bills on displayin the "Inverted Horseshoe" display located at the entrance of Binions Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. It was Las Vegas’ main attraction for almost 30 years, attracting over 3 million visitors annually until it was taken down in 2000 and sold off to investors. I will discuss this later.
There are 112 $10,000 bills from the New York district and the Binion notes accounted for 100 of them. All the Binion notes have 4 digit serial numbers, starting with serial number B00002021A and ending with serial number B00004692A. Many of them were in sequential serial numbers.
There were only 11,520 New York district $10,000bills printed by the BEP. Most collectors want a Binion Note because they are famous and pedigreed. I have personally bought and sold 68 of the Binion Hoard, some of them 4 and 5 times. I will have a special section dedicated to the history of the “Binion Hoard” for you to see on this website. For your information, the Binion Hoard is the largest hoard of Ultra High Denomination notes ever discovered. The “Dallas Hoard” was the second largest hoard ever discovered by Jhon E Cash in 2005 which consisted of 17 $5,000 and $10,000 notes. More on the Dallas Hoard later.
This Binion Note faces up like a GEM with boardwalk like margins on the front and obverse and has four evenly squared margins. The color is bright and vivid as the day it was printed. It features a Yellow Green seal which is preferred by many collectors. There is a notation that says “small repairs” which I have yet to find even under a10X loop. It does not distract from the overall appearance.
This high grade PCGS-64 Binion note will not last long as they are usually the first ones sold.
