1934 Dallas $5,000 serial # K00000087A PMG-64
This is one of the best and finest $5,000 bills I currently have in stock. The Dallas district is by far the most popular district of all $5,000 and $10,000 bills. I guess we can credit J.R. Ewing of the Dallas TV series for that. This high grade example has a two digit serial number of K00000087A and resides in a PMG-64 holder. According to the Jhon E Cash $5,000 and $10,000 Census of the 2,400 printed by the BEP only 40 have survived. And of that 40, seven $5,000 along with ten 1934 $10,000 bills were from the Dallas Hoard discovered by Jhon E Cash in 2003. The serial number range for the 1934 $5,000 Dallas District is from K00000031A to serial number K00000261A. Of the 40 known, 15 have the PPQ/EPQ designation. The highest known grade is two PMG-65EPQ’s.
For whatever reason the Dallas district has always been the most requested district of all, even the Binion $10K notes. The only Dallas $5,000 grades higher than this note is the PMG-65EPQ and a few PCGS-64PPQ’s. So, this Dallas $5,000 bill is right up there with the finest known. This 1934 $5,000 would be the highlight of any advanced collection.
