1841 $1 NGC AU58 Monster Rainbow Toned Seated Dollar
| |
This outstanding Seated Dollar is in exceptional condition for the assigned grade of AU58 by NGC in an old fattie holder. The fields have light prooflike mirrors and are completely toned over in luxurious shades of lime, ocean blue, and magenta pink on the obverse and ringed on the reverse in a target pattern in shades of lime and steel blue with a golden-peach center. It is barely worth noting that there are some light wispy lines from a VERY old cleaning noted in non-distracting areas of the fields which limits the grade to AU58 and is completely acceptable at this level of preservation. Toned Seated Dollars rarely surface as they are highly prized because of their scarcity. It is much easier to find attractive toned Proof Seated Dollars and to find even those with amazing color are difficult and demand a high premium. Additionally, due to the extreme rarity of the proof 1841 Seated Dollar, this particular example, being somewhat prooflike and exhibiting colors typically found on Proof examples, would be a valuable addition to any Seated Dollar collector.
