1925-S 5c NGC MS65 Beautiful Extremely Rare Gem Buffalo Nickel
This is one of the rarest dates in the Buffalo Nickel series in Gem condition, not counting missing legs or overdates. The frosty smooth obverse exhibits beautiful light pastel shades of orange, lime green, and blue. The strike is nicer than average but still nearly par for the date with the reverse exhibiting a hammered sharp strike and the obverse a touch soft but still better than some of the other examples I have seen while researching this coin. The luster is exceptional on both the obverse and reverse. The reverse exhibits lovely icy blue and lime with hints of rose. Greysheet value on this coin is around $24,000 and PCGS indicates $27,000 in Gem. This is one of the toughest dates to find to complete a Buffalo nickel set so if you have a registry and the 1925-S is missing in Gem for your collection, there are only a handful at this level and this piece has exceptional eye appeal. There are only 3 graded finer at either service.
(The video makes the coin look lighter in color than they really are. The pictures are a better representation of the color while the video better shows the surfaces and luster.)
