ou are viewing a rare and authentic ultra high denomination note, a 1934 $5,000 from the ever popular Chicago District It is encapsulated in PMG-58 holder. This is a problem free $5,000 bill with no rips, tears, pinholes or missing pieces. It was almost uncirculated except for a small corner tip fold. There are no rips, tears bank markings or pinholes. It has nice and even margins on both sides and it features a light green seal.
In the Jhon E Cash $5,000 and $10,000 census, there are 60 $5,000 bills from the Chicago district that are known to have survived. This Chicago $5,0000 bill has a low three-digit serial number of G000000112A and resides in a PMG-58 holder and is also new to the census and is now the lowest serial number known from the Chicago district. This is a very nice problem free and authentic $5,000 bill for the special collector who desires a graded rarity that doesn't cost $150,000.
In a recent Heritage auction held in Tampa on January 7th, 2016 a 1934 New York $5,000 bill serial # B00000822A in a PMG-30 NET holder lot # 20626 sold in auction for $105,750 and it had many edge repairs notated on the holder. In a recent private sale a 1934 $5,000 from Chicago sold for $132,500 in a PCGS-45 holder. This Chicago is many grades higher than both notes with no repairs at all and is just a step below a very expensive grade.
