POP2/2 finer! This is the famous 1908 $10 Silver Certificate commonly referred to as the “Hendricks Note or the Tombstone Note". Thomas A Hendricks was Vice-President of the United States from March 4th, 1885 to November 25th, 1885. He died in office. His portrait is enclosed within a tombstone design on the front. This note was printed in 1886, 1891 and again in 1908 which had the popular small blue seal design.
This rare GEM 1908 Silver certificate has perfect margins with NO rips, tears or pinholes. It is housed in a PMG GEM-65EPQ holder. It is totally original. The serial number is D835755. This 1908 Silver Certificate features the small blue scalloped seal with blue serial numbers. It also has the popular blue X with ten written through it on the left side front. Check out the ornate back design. I truly believe that this note warrants a PMG-66EPQ grade and will resubmit it to PMG for regarding.
PMG has graded 70 Fr.-304 notes with only seven with the EPQ designator. This is the 3rd finest known. There are two PMG-66EPQ’s graded higher and then this note is the 3rd finest known by PMG.
For those who follow Hendricks notes you are aware that there are only a handful of truly GEM uncirculated 1908 $10 Silver Certificates that exist. This is one of them. I purchased this from one of my collectors at the CPMX Chicago Show in March of 2011. It is headed to a truly fine collection to once again be off the market for years to come. This is the first Tombstone Uncirculated note I've owned over the last 12 years. A truly rare GEM! I guarantee you will never get another chance to own a GEM Fr.-404 Tombstone. This is a one in a lifetime opportunity right here on eBay. I am taking this note to a couple of upcoming currency shows and is subject to prior sale.
