This is a nice example problem free example of the 1890 $2 Treasury Note commonly referred to as the McPherson Note. General James McPherson (1828-1864) was a Union Army General who was a hero of the Battle of Vicksburg. He was killed on July 22nd, 1864 at the Battle of Atlanta and became the second highest ranking officer killed during the Civil War.

I have always loved this note because of the intricate designs on the left front and especially the back. There are NO rips, tears, pinholes or other problems. There are four squared corners and even margins both front and back. This note also features nice bright red serial numbers with a small red scalloped seal to the right. It you need a real good deal on a very nice midrange 1890 $2 Treasury Note, look no further. The serial number is A4639683 and is in a very conservative PCGS-VF20 holder.

Everyone loves the intricate back design.
