This is a nice 1902 $5 Plain Back from the First National Bank of Mercedes, TX with charter number 11879. The serial number is 7507 and is housed in a PMG Vf-30 holder. There are no rips or tears or missing pieces. Notice the famous "Vanity Signatures". These old NBN were handcut back then by the bank employees, as you can tell. According to Kelly there were only 10 known from this bank. This is ance and rare note from the Great State of Texas. believe it or not, I bought this note one day a few years ago in a Lyn Knight auction to put into my SL-500 Mercedes. Never did!
