This rare note is the last of the Large Size 1918 $1,000 Federal Reserve Notes. This is a 1918 $1,000 Federal Reserve Note from the very rare Cleveland District. The serial number is D7534A. San Francisco is the most common district. This Cleveland FRN is currently in a PMG Extra Fine 40 holder. There are only 12 Cleveland $1,000 notes known to exist and this is the one of the finest known. Of the 12, only 7 are actually collectable.

Upon close inspection It's obvious that this note appears to be in much higher graded that PMG notates as it was graded years ago. Check the large scans and you will see.

Old 1918 $500 and $1,000 Federal Reserve Bank Notes are very popular amongst serious collectors and rarely come up in any auctions.

Almost all of the (AU) About uncirculated or high graded 1918 $500 and $1,000 FRN notes were purchased by an overseas buyer when Lyn Knight auctioned off the famous Rickey Collection of 1918 $500 and $1,000 FRNs were auctioned off 10 years ago in Chicago in 2003 or 2004. All of them sold for over $100,000. This is the highest graded one left for collectors to own.

There simply are not enough of these old rare high denominations large size notes to go around. Imagine how much $1000 could purchase during World War I? You could buy a new house a car and a plane and still and have enough money left over to go to the movies.

In the FUN currency show in Orlando in Jan. of 2014 a common low grade PCGS-35 1918 $500 just sold for over $35,000 on the show floor.

The reason I'm offering this rare high grade Cleveland at this price is it belongs to one of my clients and its being offered at the old price of 2006. This is one of those opportunities that will go fast. The serial number is D7534A and resides in a PMG-40 holder.

I was instructed to lower the price to $46,500 from the $54,000 he paid for it in 2006.
