PMG and PCGS are the only two TRUE independent currency-grading services available. I highly recommend these two companies for those of you who want to get their currency certified and graded for insurance purposes or simply, a peace of mind.

This is one of the nicer Fr.-1200 1922 $50 Gold Certificates I have owned in some time. The pohoto of Uyless S Grant graces the frontThis is one of the nicer Fr.-1200 1922 $50 Gold Certificates I have owned in some time.

On the face is a photo of Hiram Ulysses Grant (1822-1885). It is frequently said that Grant's middle name was "Simpson." It was not. His middle name was "Ulysses" and he admitted that the "S" in his name stood for nothing. Ulysses S. Grant was U.S. general and commander of the Union armies during the late years of the American Civil War, and 18th president of the United States from 1869 to 1877.

The front faces up very nice with the margins almost perfect. The gold inks are deep and vivid on the front and back. The colorful anti counterfeiting fibers can easily be seen throughout. The nice thing about this note is it has never been cleaned and presses or doctored in any way. Most of the large and small size gold certificates have been pressed and cleaned as it was an acceptable practice in the 1930’s to the 1970’s.There are no rips, tears, stains, soiling, pinholes or heavy folds. It seems that this note was put away a long time ago as there is very little circulation noticeable. You can easily see the embossing through the holder.

For those of you who have really searched around you will know how difficult it is to locate any gold certificate with an EPQ or PPQ designation, especially in a nice grade. The serial number is B2986507 and it is in a PCGS-45PPQ holder. This note won't last long.
