This is one of the nicer 1922 $100 Benton Gold Certificates that I have owned in some time. The front features the head of Thomas Hart Benton, who served in both the US Senate from 1821 to 1851 and the US House of Representatives from 1853 to 1855.

A recent example of this very note in the exact same grade sold at the Chicago Heritage Auction in March of 2013 for over $5400.

The reason is trying to locate these 1922 $50 and $100 Gold Certificates in Extra Fine to Almost Uncirculated in PPQ and EPQ is next to impossible. I searched for almost 3 months before I could find this one. I have several of the 1922 $100 Gold Certificates in the 25 to 35 grade but this is my only one in a 45PPQ grade.

Look this one over very carefully and notice the great margins and please notice that the corners have no folds. This note was put away a long time ago and saved from circulation. The scalloped red seal is extremely bright and the gold inks on the front and especially the back are as deep colored at they were over 90 years ago. Like I said someone put this one away in a book a long time ago as you will notice that there is no soil in the three light folds that can be seen from the back. This note is a collectors dream note! The serial number is N1674644 and it is in a PCGS-45PPQ holder.
