PMG and PCGS are the only two TRUE independent currency-grading services available. I highly recommend these two companies for those of you who want to get their currency certified and graded for insurance purposes or simply, a peace of mind.

THIS 1922 $500 GOLD CERTIFICATE HAS THE BEST GOLDEN COLOR YOU WILL EVER SEE ON A LARGE SIZE 1922 $500 GOLD CERTIFICATE NOTE IN THIS GRADE.CHECK OUT THE BACK! IT HAS NEVER BEEN WASHED, CLEANED OR PRESSED!

I've owned a few of these and most all of them without exception have issues, such as pinholes, washed and faded and repairs. Look at the back of this one and see for yourself. No hard folds and the color is still vibrant. Look at the small red scalloped seal on the front and see how bright red it is, it is not faded, compared to the other 1922 $500 Gold Certificate that I have on my website. The signature combination is Speelman and White.

The front of this note features the head of Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States.

This is one of the finest 1922 $500 Gold Certificates I have ever owned. I just sold one a few months ago in a PMG-15 net holder on this webbsite for $22,500. According to Track and Price in a recent Heritage auction in late 2013 a PCGS-20 NET with repairs sold for $19,975.

What got my attention on this one is the un altered brilliant gold color on the reverse. Most of these gold certificates are either washed and cleaned as was so popular in the last 50 years or they have heavy and soiled folds on the reverse. As you can see this one has no rips, tears or missing pieces. The burnt-orange color is not faded at all.

This is a real deal for this one in this price range. The serial number of this gold certificate is E25406 and is in a PCGS-Very Fine 25 holder. If you are looking for one of the very few problem free large size $500 gold certificates under the $40,000 to $55,000 range, here it is.You will want to consider this one fast as it will get a lot of attention from serious collectors. You have to check out the color on the back.

The 2014 version of Paper Money of the United States book values them at $25,000 in VF-20, page 170.
