This error note is the "King of all Errors"
You are viewing one of the most remarkable small size errors of all time! It is commonly referred to as "The King" of all Small Size Errors and sometimes referred to by dealers as the "$15 dollar bill". This is a 1934D $5 Federal Reserve error note from the Kansas City district. All of the 1934D $5/$10 double denominations are from this famous run of errors. No other U.S. misprint error note is so sought after and admired as the double denomination.
This is an excerpt from Dr Fred J. Bart in his 2nd edition book (pg. 34) titled "United States Paper Money Errors".
The double denomination reigns supreme among paper money errors. No other mistake conjures the romance, mystique and fascination of the double denomination. In fact, across the entire spectrum of paper money collecting, very few notes can equal the allure of the two-valued oddity. More publicity and lines of catalogue descriptions are showered upon the double denomination than any other misprint. The double denomination note-with the face and back each representing a different value-happens in a rather simple manner. After a currency sheet receives the back printing of one denomination, the sheet enters the face and overprinting operations of another denomination. The confusion presumably arises during the transportation of the currency stock to the second printing stage after a storage period subsequent to the first printing.
This rare $5/$10 double denomination is missing from most of the most advanced error collections. Trying to locate one is near impossible, even more so in a GEM-65 grade. They only become available when a collectors decides to part with his. There are only so many available. You would have a easier time finding a $5,000 or $10,000 bill than finding a double denomination.
Some special collector or investor now has a rare opportunity to own one of the four known PCGS-65PPQ GEM examples of the King! The serial number of this example is J43180826A and it is in a GEM PCGS-65PPQ holder.
This $5/$10 double denomination is subject to prior sale as it is advertised on eBay as well as several other places.
