This is a rare and certified 1934 Kansas City $10,000 bill in a PCGS-30 Holder. There are currently 14 known from this district. It is a real nice example and one of with great eye appeal. In the recent Stacks and Bowers auction held 3/26/2015 in Baltimore a similar 1934 Kansas City $10,000 bill in a PMG-35 NET Repaired sold for $124,257. The serial number was J000000365A. That example was not as nice eye appeal wise as this one. I was the underbidder on that note.
The price of all $5,000 and $10,000 bills have been increasing in cost and price for over 2 years. A recent 1934 $5,000 in a PMG-64EPQ set a new record when it sold in the same auction for $303,000. Another 1934 Boston $10,000 in a PMG-64EPQ sold in the same auction for $273,188.
The one I have for sale is in a PMG-30 NET holder for $10,000 less. It does not have all the heavy soiling that the other example had and the margins are a GEM-65 example. My replacement cost on the next one is going to be a lot higher in the future.
This may be the last chance for some lucky collector to get one at a price under $125,000. I am not going to mark it up to NEW cost as that is not how I do business.
