While I was at the Rocky Mountain Coin Show in Denver on May 11th, 2014 I had the opportunity to acquire a complete set of $1, $2, and the $5 1896 Educational notes. I actually only wanted the 1896 $2 Educational but I had ti buy the set to get it. You can see why I wanted the 1896 $2 Educational so bad. This is one really nice deuce with all the attributes that one could want on a note. It faces up like a GEM-67 note on the front and back. This is the nicest $2 Educational I have ever owned in a AU grade, by far. Great margins, wonderful and fresh paper quality and the inks looks as if it was recently printed. This note was actually in a CGA-66 holder and the collector had it crossed over recently. It has the appearance of a Superb GEM note. If you are looking for a super nice original 1896 $2 Educational note this may be the only chance you will get. Most of these are either in GEM for $15,000 or in a VF-25 to VF-35 grade. Rarely do you see an AU-55PPQ on the market. That is exactly why I jumped on it immediately. The serial number of this deuce is 1348751 and it resides in a PCGS AU-55PPQ holder. I have priced it at wholesale pricing for some lucky collector. SORRY THIS NOTE LASTED 5 MINUTES ON THE WEBSITE BEFORE SOME LUCKY COLLECTOR GRABBED IT"
