This 1899 $5 Silver Certificate is also known as the Chief Note for obvious reasons. It features the head of Chief Ta-to-ka-in-yan-ka, also known as Running Antelope, a member of the Oncpapa tribe of Sioux Indians. This is the only issue of US paper money that a Native American was selected as the central feature. George F. C. Smillie who engraved the 1896 Educational note also engraved this one. The serial number of this Very Choice Uncirculated PCGS- 64PPQ note is E29305095. It is obvious to see that this is a near GEM note with all the qualities that one would expect. This is one of the finest 64 graded notes you will ever encounter.
