This is one of those named notes that everyone likes. This 1891 $10 Silver Certificate is commonly referred to as the famous Tombstone Note. The face of this note features a bust of Thomas A Hendricks who was Vice President of the United States from March 4th 1885 until his death on November 25th, 1885. So I guess they figured since he died in office they would honor him by placing his portrait on a $10 Silver Certificate inside of a Tombstone. Thank God they liked him!

This actually is a nice Very Fine example for type note collectors. It has no rips, tears pinholes, heavy soiling or bank marks. Pretty nice shape for a 124 year old note. It still has good paper quality and the small red scalloped seal is still vibrant. There is no heavy soiling as is common on most VF notes. The serial number is 13685184 and resides in a PCGS-30 holder and is part of the famous Eric P. Newman Collection.
